Canon Young People Nordic Competition

1.1. The Promoter (“Canon”) is the following entities:
1.2. The Contest is open to residents in Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Norway or Sweden and between 16-19 years old, as of the start of the Entry Period. Entrants must have a valid Instagram account with an open profile in order to enter. Employees, directors, officers, agents and other representatives of Canon (the Sponsor) or Instagram, are not eligible to enter or win.
1.3. Employees of Canon, its subsidiary companies, their families, agents and other parties directly involved with this promotion and the sponsorship are not eligible to enter.
1.4. By entering this competition, all participants are deemed to have agreed to be bound by these terms and conditions unless notified otherwise in writing.
2.1. The Canon Young People Nordic Competition (YPNC) is aimed at empowering and supporting young people (16-19 years old) in finding and raising their voice on the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDG's) and share their stories with the world. This is done by supporting them in developing their imaging skills, firing their passion for imaging and inspiring them through the power of visual storytelling. The YPNC is part of the Canon Europe Young People Programme.
2.2. No purchase is necessary, it is free to enter this competition.
2.3. Multiple entries/images are permitted and more than one image from any one entrant may be chosen for publication, but prizes will be strictly limited to one per person.
2.4. Incomplete, invalid or inappropriate entries, or entries received after the closing date [insert the closing date] will not be eligible for publication or any prize.
3.1. You participate by uploading your image on Instagram accompanied with a short text that includes the connection to you chosen UN SDG’s and then tag it with the hashtag “#photosforgood”. To spread the word on this competition we also encourage you to tag your friends and ask of them to do the same. Tagging you friends is however optional and not a requirement for participating in the competition.
3.2. At the end of the competition a jury consisting of one or more Canon Nordic photographer together with selected Canon employees (please read section 7 for more information) will pick five winners. Each of the five winners will each win an EOS M50 camera, an EF-M 15-45mm IS STM lens, and a one-day photography/video workshop with Canon for the winner and 10 of their friends.
3.3. All entries must be received between [insert the exact time and date for beginning and end of the entries period] .

4.3. If you have been selected as one of the five winners in the competition (please see more information above), Canon will contact you directly by a direct message on Instagram. If you have been selected as a winner and does not reply within two (2) weeks, then Canon reserves the right to choose another winner.
4.4. In case Canon wants to share your photo/video and visual story on our website, social media pages and/or exhibition events, we will contact you through a direct message on Instagram in advance and ask for your consent.
4.5. You also agree to be contacted by Canon for the purposes of administrating the competition or in the event that Canon wishes to discuss any other use of the photo/video submitted to the competition.
4.6. Canon reserves the right to disqualify incomplete or illegible entries or entries which do otherwise not meet the above requirements.
4.7. For the workshop, the 10 friends need to between 16-19 years old, have a signed parent/legal guardian approval (if below 18 years old), a signed approval for Canon to share images/videos from the workshop and a signed approval for Canon to share content created by the participants at the workshop. Canon will share the images/videos on Canon’s website, social media sites and exhibitions.
By submitting its entry
The Participant warrants that:
- the entrant is the sole author of the photograph/video;
- the entrant is the owner of the proprietary rights in the photograph/video;
- the photograph/video and any element appearing in the photograph/video do not infringe the rights (including intellectual property rights) of any third party
- in the case where a person or person’s image appears in the photograph/video, the entrant has obtained written permission from those person(s) for Canon to use their image(s) as described in these terms and conditions; and
- in the case where the photograph/video has been taken in another country than in Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Norway and Sweden, the entrant has complied with the law applicable to such country, including but not limited to any intellectual property and proprietary legal requirements.
- it is the responsibility of the entrant to ensure that the relevant permission has been sought, eventual model release forms have been satisfactorily completed and that copyright is not infringed.
Canon warrants that:
- it shall act within the scope of the rights granted under these terms and conditions;
- Subject to the clause 9 Canon reserves the right to re-post, display, reproduce or publish, or give permission to display, reproduce or publish any entry without payment to the author of the photograph/video.
6.1. All five winners will receive an EOS M50 camera and EF-M 15-45mm IS STM lens for the value of approximately 715 Euros as well as a one-day photography/video workshop for the winner and 10 friends at the value of approximately 750 Euros per workshop (“Prize”).
The aim of the photography/video workshop is to support the winners and their friends in developing their imaging skills. Please note that the winner must accept both prizes and cannot choose between the prizes (e.g. accepting the camera, but not the workshop). If the winner does not accept both prizes Canon has the right to select another winner. When the winner has been selected, they will be contacted by a direct message on Instagram. We will then ask for your contact information. We will also ask you of the following:
6.2. Canon reserves the right to publish the name and county of the winner and to publicise any prize giving presentation after the date of the competition. Canon will notify the winner by a direct message on Instagram. If the winner does not wish such details to be published, they must advise Canon at time of being notified that they have won.
6.3. The Prize is non-transferable, and no cash or credit alternatives will be substituted for the prize on offer. In the event that the prize offered is unavailable due to circumstances beyond our control, Canon reserves the right to offer an alternative prize of equal or greater value.
6.4. The EOS M50 camera and EF-M 15-45mm IS STM lens will be posted to the winners within 30 days after the winner is announced. The date and place of the workshops will be agreed upon together with the winners.
6.5. The name of the winner will be published on our Instagram and Facebook pages on the [insert the date]. The name and country of the winner might also be shared on our Canon website and at exhibitions showcasing the Canon YPNC.
6.6. The Prize is strictly as stated above and is non-transferable with absolutely no cash, credit or other alternative prize available for substitution of the prize on offer.
6.7. Any rejected or unclaimed prize may be awarded to other entrants at the absolute and sole discretion of Canon.
6.8. If the winner does not reply within two (2) weeks of being contacted by Canon, then Canon reserves the right to choose another winner.
6.9. During the workshop’s equipment will be made available for free to all participants. All equipment made available for the workshop cannot be purchased and needs to be returned to Canon after the end of the workshop in the same condition as provided by Canon. Canon will also provide food, soft drinks and transportation (if needed) during the workshop. However, Canon will not cover the costs of transportation for the participants to and from the workshop.
6.10. Fees for prizes are paid according to local legislation in both Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Norway and Sweden.
After the closing date on or more Canon Nordic photographers together with the Nordic Regional Sustainability Engagement Lead, Canon EMEA Sustainability Manager and a representative from Canon’s communication department will select the overall winner by [insert the date].
The winning visual stories will be decided based on the following three criteria:
- Quality of the image
- The relation of the visual story to the SDG’s
- The passion told in the visual story
9.1. Canon reserves the right to refuse to honor any entry or to recover the full value of any prize if it considers there has been an abuse or breach of the terms and conditions of this competition.
9.2. Canon shall not be liable for any loss, damage or injury of any nature howsoever caused, sustained by any participant under this promotion. However, nothing in these rules shall have the effect of excluding or restricting Canon liability for personal injury or death caused by the proven negligence of its employees or contractors.
9.3. In the event of a dispute over interpretation or implementation of the rules on any matter related to the competition, the decision of the Directors of Canon is final, and no correspondence will be entered into.
9.4. If any part of these conditions is found by a court of competent jurisdiction or other competent authority to be invalid, unlawful or unenforceable, then such part shall be severed from the remainder of these conditions, which shall continue to be valid to the fullest extent permitted by law.
9.5. This Contest is in no way sponsored, endorsed or administered by, or associated with, Instagram. When you enter the Contest, Instagram will not collect your personal information. By entering the Contest, an Entrant agrees to release and hold harmless Instagram from any and all liability associated with this promotion.
These terms and conditions and any disputes arising out of or in connection with them shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws and in a court of your country of residence in your local language. Your local consumer advice can advise you about your rights. These rules do not affect statutory rights.
